Bench By The Sea

Is there someone trying to get out?
Somebody I don’t know about?
Is someone stuck inside a little matchbox like me?
Is someone trying to get in?
Somebody who don’t fit in;
Is there someone on the outside of this window like me?
Are all these pictures make-believe?
And all these flowers only trees?
Is there anybody singing this old lullaby with me?
We’ll sing for my coffee
We’ll sing for your tea
And sing for our bench by the sea.
Count the pennies in the ashtray,
The words that just won’t go away
Add them up and turn them into one more song
And if there’s someone out there
who doesn’t know that here’s where
Together is much better looking out than in
It’s time to take some time off
And pull back what’s been pushed off.
Let’s start before we finish what some can’t begin
Let’s sing for my coffee
Let’s sing for your tea
And sing for our bench by the sea.
