Inflected Form II

Apparently, we don’t do a lot of waiting.

We run, walk, sleep, and more,

but must not be doing much waiting…

or at least we seldom say that we are waiting.

And yet, it seems to me that we actually do quite

a lot of waiting,

but must keep our waiting secret

because to wait is a verb which is regularly conjugated, not to mean regularly like often, rather, in regular form.

And usually it is the most commonly used verbs that take on an irregular form.

We wait and have waited while others have to find another strange word to tell us what happened yesterday:

Run must find ran

Leave must find left

See must find saw

Send must find sent

Give must find gave

Go must find went

But wait only waited, and waited,

and is surely waiting still.
